Birdlife of Kununurra in the East Kimberley

We were fascinated by the variety of birdlife around Lake Kununurra. Black Kites were everywhere slowly circling the camp in a display of precision flying. Waterbirds abounded and we were irked by the constant squawking of the numerous Pukekos that foraged around the camp all day and night.

White heron and burdekin ducks
A Jabiru or black necked stork pays a visit
Plovers
The Ibis commonly known as the bin chicken
A Pelican
The Black Kite – seen everywhere
A patient Blue Kingfisher
A Pukeko or Australasian Swamphen
And of course the Freshie

  1. Great photos. Now you are in Northern Territory. I love barramundi. All good here.
